UCSB Non-Judgmental Bites
Looks like we have offended the
party-till-we-puke crowd again. We are getting lots of hate emails right
after closing time.
Why is it we have to keep arguing with people who
continue to contend that UCSB is a safe place. How
about checking out this video the next time you feel like explaining how
safe it is at UCSB.
UCSB Judgmental Bites
Wow, here is loyal member of the "party
school" apparatchik at UCSB. A stabbing victim (Ozhekh)
narrowly escapes death –
but he wants everyone to know not to blame the
party scene at UCSB/IV. Quote from the Nexus: "Ozhekh said he hopes the incident does
not give UCSB and I.V. a bad reputation." Well, Mr. Ozhekh, the
reason your drunken assailant came to IV was because of the "party
scene" and the fact that the town is considered "wide open" when
it comes to drugs, booze, sex, and violence. He came to "rip it
up" because that is what is promoted at UCSB. Party on, Ozhekh.
Another free speech issue is about to boil over
at UCSB: About
camping (as part of a protest) on campus, UCSB spokesperson Bowman said. “They are
subjected to being the victims of all kinds of crimes [and] injury.”
Say what? I thought UCSB was a safe place. For the purpose of
clarification, are the transients being assaulted by UCSB students, or is it the
UCSB students who are
being assaulted by the transients? Or, perhaps UCSB has merely had
enough of the protestors messing up the schools carefully crafted fairytale
image –
can
you image how upset Buffy's parents would be if they had to see all that riffraff
during their campus visit.
Political Bites
Stupid quote of the month in the Nexus, "Recent UCSB graduate Jeronimo
Saldana, an organizer and participant in both of the tent cities this past year,
said he was excited when he heard the news of the ban. 'I think it’s
great,' Saldana said. “I love it. The whole point of a tent city is civil
disobedience [and] the fact that they were letting us do it didn’t give us the
opposition we wanted.' However, second-year history major Shauna Woods said
she believed the causes promoted by the campouts felt removed from the concerns
of average students. 'I never really understood tent cities,' Woods said. 'I’d rather celebrate David
Hasselhoff.'" Let's hope that UCSB's ban on tent protesters and these two mental giants'
comments don't represent the majority of intellectual discourse at UCSB.
Final thought: swearing off "solid food" is not much of a protest
around here, I know lots of people who don't mix their booze with food.
Respectfully submitted,
Banjo Reams
Editor's comment: Did Banjo actually use the term
"Say What?"
