The Dark Side and W.E.T.T.

February 28, 2005

Thedarksideofucsb.com had the distinct honor of funding a portion of the Women's ensemble Theater Troupe’s (W.E.T.T.) presentation of the Vagina Monologues.  In addition to having a great deal of fun, W.E.T.T. raised over $10,000.  All of the proceeds will go to groups that provide services to women.

Information from W.E.T.T.

“The University of California, Santa Barbara Women's Ensemble Theater Troupe (W.E.T.T.) is proud to be a participant in the V-Day 2005 College Campaign.  We have been granted the rights for a benefit production of Eve Ensler's award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues,” to raise money and awareness for local organizations that work to stop violence against women and girls.  The two performances will be held February 18th and 19th.  In 2004, V-Day happened in over 1000 venues around the world.  Here at UCSB the production raised about $10,500, which W.E.T.T. donated to local women's charities, including Advocates for Domestic & Child Abuse Prevention (ADCAP) and Child Abuse Listening and Mediation (CALM).  It is our intention to make V-Day 2005 UCSB a huge success.  This will be possible, in large part, through the assistance and generosity of sponsors.”

The Dark Side sponsored the event in order to raise awareness about the need to stop violence against women.
