UCSB Bites April 23
UCSB Bites May 15, 2005
Political Bites
Well, well, well, the AS "finds" $32,000.
Student groups can't find funding and the AS can't find their own money.
Lucky this little oversight wasn't found just before the elections.
Cervin Morris takes heat in sidewalk chalk editorials because he
wanted accountability. Welcome to the club, Cervin. If you demand accountability,
someone will always be upset with you.
A vote by the Academic Senate to
boot military recruiters off the UCSB campus will have to wait. Only 16 faculty members (out of a total membership of 50)
appeared at a special afternoon
session on Friday. At least 20 are needed for a quorum. What's going on here: apathy,
busy schedules, or is it politically safer to stay away than vote.
UCSB Judgmental Bites
It's Taser Time in IV. The Fall Defensive will have something shocking to complain about
now, and the political fur will fly. I wanted to
help with the Fall Defensive this year by providing a first person report on the
Taser, but regardless of how much I walk
around IV, I just can't seem to get Tasered. I think a cop looked at
me funny the other day, and my feelings were really hurt. But then again,
come to think of
it, most people look at me funny.
The UCSB grades tamper queen "might warrant ..."
what? UCSB's response is a joke, right. It's a joke isn't
it? Someone tell me that it's a joke. Note to UCSB spin
doctors: Next time someone breaks into the E-grades system and changes grades (which puts
the integrity of a UCSB degree in question), I would suggest
that the administration use the following press release: "While we cannot comment on
this specific case, UCSB will immediately expel any student caught tampering with the
grades." Short and sweet, no ifs, ands, maybes, mights, or
buts.
Respectfully submitted,
Banjo Reams
